This review focuses the Rogue Ohio Belt, which we can tell by the number of reviews on Rogue Fitness and other websites, is their most popular belt. Potentially one of the most well-known brands in the Industry, Rogue Fitness deliveries for years outstanding products, most of them for powerlifting and strongman.

They offer gym equipment, like racks, barbells, and lifting accessories like wraps, lifting belts, straps, and others. The brand also has a wide range of shoes, for different sports like weightlifting and CrossFit.

With such popularity and having many athletes from different sports sponsored by them, it’s hard to tell what are their best products, but one thing that we can say for sure is that their belts are top-notch. Many well-known individuals are using them on a regular basis and even in the most prestigious competitions in the world.

Craftsmanship

One of the first things to mention when talking about the Rogue Ohio belt is the unique privilege of wearing a handcrafted belt, which you can not have with many other mass-produced belts. This fact put this belt above others from the beginning, which is a pretty nice touch by Rogue.

The belt consists of 2 solid pieces of leather glued together, which achieves a 10mm thickness. The buckle is a solid piece of silver.

An aspect to take into consideration is that the thickness might vary due to the properties of the leather, therefore the Rogue describes the thickness of the belt as 10+/-1mm.

It has exactly 10 holes, a good thing because is really hard to get the wrong size and it also gives you the freedom to gain/lose a considerable amount of weight and still be able to use it, or share it with someone with different measurements. (the sizing is also included below)

The downside of the belt construction is the loop, which is a little too loose, therefore if you wear a size that only allows you to use the first holes, the part that has to be introduced in the loop may slip out.

Consider this when you pick the size. Made in Columbus, USA, the belt is made of vegetable tanned water-resistant leather, a game-changer for your workouts and it looks like it’s made to last a lifetime.

About the single-prong buckle

The belt comes with a single-prong buckle, which may seem not enough for some of you, but considering the fact that it’s provided by Rogue Fitness, there are no reasons to not go with this fastening system.

The big advantage a single-prong buckle has compared to a lever system is the adjustment time because for the second option you need a screwdriver to adjust the belt if you share it with someone or you prefer different thicknesses for squats and deadlifts.

Obviously, a lever belt has its advantages, therefore if you are interested in more in-depth details about one, you can see here a review regarding the Inzer Forever Belt.

The single-prong buckle also allows you to put on and take off the belt more easily than a double-prong one.

Main characteristics

  • 4-inch wide
  • 10+/-1mm thick
  • single-prong buckle
  • 5 available sizes ( S, M, L, XL, XXL)
  • solid stitching
  • made in the USA
  • water-resistant genuine leather
  • the color is achieved by a
    complex tanning process
  • easy to adjust

Aesthetics

Just by looking at this belt, you can tell that it screams quality at its finest, with a brown color achieved by their method of tanning the leather. This gives the belt a classic, yet luxurious look. The stitching is white, and it also looks detailed, well made, and premium.

The Rogue branding makes its presence by a big logo on the back of the belt and also by a smaller one on the loop.

Sizing

The belt comes with five different size options: S, M, L, XL, XXL.
The measurement represents your waist size, not the pants size. Measure your waist a few inches above your pants, where the belt should be placed. Adopt a relaxed position.

  • S (21”-28”)
  • M (26”- 33”)
  • L (31” – 37”)
  • XL (34” – 41”)
  • XXL (38″ – 45″)

Shipping time

The Rogue Fitness team provides really good customer service, therefore is really easy to return the belt if the size is wrong. They are usually quick to respond and friendly. Their normal shipping time is 2-3 working days, but for now, the shipping is delayed with 5-7 days, which is still not that much compared to other providers.

The price of the Rogue Ohio Belt

The belt is listed at $110, but that should not be a surprise considering the top-quality materials used and the time the whole tanning process takes. If you see this as a long-term investment, and you know you won’t quit lifting in 2 months, I see this as an opportunity to purchase one of the best-rated lifting belts on the market and enjoy the premium look and feel.

On top of that, there is a big chance that you won’t have to worry about a belt for a long time, due to its tremendous lifespan. It also ages really nicely, therefore with a little care it will still have a fresh look over time.

However, if you are just a beginner and you are not completely sure about your future in fitness, it may not be the best option for you being this pricey, so I suggest that you start with a more affordable one. There are a lot of solid belts out there with a significantly lower price, but if you don’t have any idea what to look for you can check our product reviews, where we analyze a large range of belts.

How the belt feels in the first days

Like any other thick leather belt, it is stiffer and it may bruise a little in the first days but it only takes two or three lifting sessions to get rid of that. Afterward, the belt will fit your body shape really good and it will feel unrestrictive while providing excellent support. It works great for squats, pressing exercises, and deadlifts, but it’s suitable for any other training you prefer. If you have a short torso and you worry that it may dig into your ribs, the 3-inch version might be a better option.

Rogue Ohio Belt Review - Conclusion

Overall, I see this belt as a good investment, especially if you are serious about your plans for fitness. The belt finds the right balance between comfort and support, due to the top-quality materials used and the tanning process of the leather. There are a lot of customers who own this belt for years and most of them said a lot of positive things about it.

It is probably one of the top choices if you want a well-built belt from a well-known brand in the industry. This Rogue Ohio Belt review was meant to give you a clear idea about what it offers and what are the advantages and disadvantages of purchasing one, in case you are not sure if this is the right choice.
