Since 1999, RDX has built its name as one of the most famous brands in the sports industry, providing high-quality equipment for fitness, boxing, MMA, and others. Founded in the UK, the company is now its own manufacturer, which means it can sell the equipment at lower prices than brands that do not have this opportunity. The item that caught our attention for today’s article is the 10mm Powerlifting Belt that uses a lever closure, which means that it can be an alternative to classic belts that use a buckle instead. There is no doubt that RDX produces reliable products, so we’ll take a closer look at this belt, which is, in fact, one of the most popular of the brand.

Design

While the old model had a large RDX text with double stitching at the back, the brand launched an updated version in terms of appearance that has a square logo. It comes in two versions, depending on the color of the belt. Both look good, but our favorite is the black one because the combination with the red background of the logo looks great. The first thing we noticed immediately was that the edges are not rounded so that the entire width of the belt is available. This procedure is not common at all, but another product that has no rounded edges is the Inzer Forever Belt. The downside of square edges is that they can cause discomfort. Although it is a 10mm leather belt, it is not that heavy, especially compared to similar belts from other brands. This can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on your situation.

How The Belt Was Made

Leaving aside its weight, the RDX Powerlifting Belt looks quite sturdy. The main part is made of Nubuck leather, while the lever is plated with chrome. The best part about lever belts is how fast they tighten. It literally takes a few seconds to put it on. Unfortunately, the lever seems to be the main disadvantage of this belt, because it was one of the main complaints of customers. Alternatively, you can find a similar RDX belt that uses a double prong buckle instead. Another aspect worth mentioning is that the leather is unusually soft for a 10mm belt. The only advantage in this regard is that you will be able to break-in the belt faster.

This belt comes in four sizes, from small (S) to extra large (XL). Don’t forget to measure around the navel, exactly where the belt will be worn. A common mistake that some athletes make is to choose a belt based on their pant size.

Who Is This Belt For?

The leather looks stiff enough for daily use in the gym, but at the same time, as we mentioned earlier, it is softer than other 10mm models, so it will be more comfortable. Using it may be a good way to get used to thick leather belts, but you may come to the conclusion that it is stiff enough for you. Also, this belt is not too rigid for a beginner. The 4-inch width of this product is the most common among lifting belts, but due to the fact that it is quite thick, people with short trunks may find it uncomfortable. This belt is not made exclusively for men, but women might find a 3-inch or nylon belt more comfortable, depending on their body structure.

Price And Quality

Although RDX does not disappoint in terms of quality, this belt is not exactly the best example. We say this because there have been complaints about the quality of the stitching, the lever, and even the leather.

It is true that most customers were satisfied with the belt, but we must also mention the negative feedback to give you the opportunity to make a choice based on reality.

However, the price of this RDX belt is quite low considering its materials and thickness, especially if we compare it with similar ones from other brands.

We can say that it falls into the category of affordable belts, although at first glance, it is difficult to notice the difference between a top-notch belt and this one.
